White Bachelor Button flowers are good for a variety of crafts, arrangements and decorative purposes, as well as for the bright pop of white they give to an outdoor flower garden. The plants are prolific bloomers with the tips of the plants producing numerous flowers that are about 1.5 inches in diameter. With the generous height of the stems and the bright white of the petals, white bachelor buttons are hard to miss. The white flowers look great in live flower arrangements as well as in dried arrangements.
Bachelor buttons are hardy plants that have few problems with insects or disease. They grow well from seed and need little care. If kept moist they may develop mildew, so water the soil instead of the stems. Thin seedlings after the seeds sprout, keeping the plants 12 inches or further apart. Deadhead the flowers to keep the plant producing flowers through the blooming season, or leave the spent flowers and allow the plant to self sow for the next year. Seeds are packaged and germination tested for current year.
