China Asters aren’t a shy flower – with blooms as long as 3 inches wide, these flowers demand to be noticed. These annuals come in purple, white, and many different shades of pink. The centers are a golden yellow to contrast with the striking colors of the petals. They prefer full sun and plenty of water. The seeds need to be kept moist while they are sprouting. After about 10 to 20 days, China Asters begin growing toward their full height of up to 2 feet in height. They should be planted about 2 to 3 inches apart.
Because China Asters have such large, eye-catching blooms, they can be planted in the back row of a flower bed and will still get plenty of notice. They are a great way to set off the smaller flowers in the garden and will add variety to a garden that features smaller blooms. The bright colors and large bloom size of this variety of Aster make them perfect for cut-flower arrangements or as the primary focal point of a flower bed. The seeds are packaged and germination tested for the current year.
